New Travel Series with Strictly Come Dancing Stars for BBC

BBC Studios Entertainment is producing Anton and Giovanni: Adventures in Sicily, a travel series featuring Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton du Beke and Giovanni Pernice, for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The three-parter will see Pernice introduce his home of Sicily to du Beke. The two will explore breathtaking sights such as Mount Etna and authentic old Mediterranean towns and sample Sicilian cuisine.

Slated to premiere in 2023, the series is executive produced by Kelly Lynn and Mel Balac. Samuel Simon serves as series producer, and Dionne Bromfield is director.

“When I first heard about this trip, it was pretty irresistible,” said du Beke. “What’s not to love? It’s all my favorite things: great food, great country and spending time in the sunshine with Giovanni. Marvelous!”

Pernice said, “To say this has been a dream project is an understatement. Taking Anton to my much-loved home of Sicily was simply bellissima! We danced, we laughed and had the time of our lives with great culture, food and company. I cannot wait for viewers in the U.K. to come on this journey with us. See you in the Sicilian sun!”

Mel Balac, creative director at BBC Studios, added, “Viewers will get to see Anton and Gio in a completely different light as we follow them on their road trip across Sicily. Alongside seeing the boys enjoy and experience everything that Sicily has to offer, viewers will also see their amazing friendship grow as they learn new things about one another, including some things that they would probably rather not let anyone know!”

Jo Wallace, senior commissioning editor at BBC, said, “I am sure that this fun packed adventure showcasing all Sicily has to offer will certainly prove that our dancing duo of Anton and Giovanni are a match made in the Med!”
