NEW YORK: MTV has renewed its reality matchmaking experiment Are You The One? for a fourth season.

The show sees a group of 20 singles who are bad at finding true love living together on an island. Each one has been matched with their soul mate, and must figure out who that person is in order to win a prize of up to $1 million. The singles are challenged to attend a “matchup ceremony” each week to see whether they’ve chosen the right person. Season three, which is currently airing, introduced a new twist: each time the group fails to find at least one true match during the matchup ceremony, the cash prize is decreased by $250,000.

Are You The One? is an irresistibly juicy and fun exploration of the thin line between love, infatuation and social experiment, and we’re thrilled to see the audience responding to this season's dialed up romance and drama,” said Lauren Dolgen, MTV’s executive VP of reality series development. “AYTO fans are gonna flip when they see what goes down in the final two episodes of this season, and we can’t wait to bring it back with a new crew of love-seeking singles in season four.”

The penultimate episode of season three airs tonight on MTV, setting the stage for a special two-hour finale episode on November 18 at 10 p.m. The concept comes from Howard Schultz, Rob LaPlante and Jeff Spangler of Lighthearted Entertainment, who executive produce along with Scott Jeffress, also of Lighthearted Entertainment.
