Mech TV Launches VOD Platform

Tinopolis-backed Mech TV has launched Mech+, a VOD streaming service dedicated to robotics, science and engineering content.

Mech+ launched in April with over 150 hours of content, including Robot Wars, Techno Games and Car Warriors. All content is available in HD on the platform, which offers viewers both a live and VOD viewing experience online, as well as via the Mech+ app for mobile devices.

Further, Mech+ has partnered with Media16 to provide brand campaigns on the AVOD service and is looking for further sponsorship opportunities.

While Mech+ is predominantly an AVOD service, viewers in the U.K. and U.S. are currently able to subscribe for a yearly fee to watch without ads. The service is available globally in the English language, though some content may be geo-restricted, subject to available rights.

Nick Rees, COO of Mech TV, said: “Building a community around the service is also important to us, a place where viewers can interact. It’s early days, but we are seeing a lot of engagement from a very passionate audience who are helping to shape the direction of the channel. New content will be made available every month, and there are some exciting shows in the release schedule, but we are always looking for new acquisitions that fit the brand. Longer-term, the main goal is to be in a position to commission the production of new content.”

Joe Evea, founder at Media16, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Mech+, the launch of which epitomizes the opportunity CTV provides for advertisers to associate with high-quality content and reach a hugely passionate audience in a premium environment that attracts light TV viewers.”
