ID Sets August Lineup of ’90s Killer Specials

Throughout August, ID has slated specials revisiting some of the most notable murder cases of the ’90s for Sunday nights.

Kicking off the lineup on August 7, Menendez Brothers: Misjudged? reexamines the Erik and Lyle Menendez trial through a new lens, questioning if the media narrative that they killed their parents out of greed was accurate.

On August 14, Who Killed Biggie and Tupac? will debut. With exclusive interviews and unique insight into both shootings, the series offers answers from some of the key players involved.

The Killer Nanny, premiering August 21, reexamines the evidence from the murder trial of British au pair Louise Woodward, with unprecedented access to witnesses, the defense team, the prosecution and members of the jury.

Lastly, on August 28, Mary Kay Letourneau: Notes on a Scandal will make its debut. The special centers on the case of Mary Kay Letourneau, a teacher who had an affair with her 12-year-old student. The program seeks to understand whether the 34-year-old teacher’s affair with her 12-year-old student was actually true love like they both claimed or if she was a pedophile, guilty of rape.

All four series will be available to stream the same day on discovery+.

Exclusively on discovery+, The Diana Investigations, a four-part series offering a new look into the tragedy that shocked the world, will debut on August 18.

As a complement to the Sunday night programming, People Magazine Presents: Crimes of the 90s will air on weeknights beginning August 1.

“The 1990s were a decade where true crime dominated popular culture in an unprecedented way,” said Jason Sarlanis, president of crime and investigate content, linear and streaming. “From the tragic loss of icons like Biggie, Tupac and Princess Di to the scandalous affair of Mary Kay Letourneau and the horrific circumstances of the Menendez brothers, these stories and their headlines captivated the public. With never-before-seen evidence and groundbreaking interviews, we reexamine these crimes through the context of our present day, giving our viewers jaw-dropping revelations and a completely new understanding of these iconic cases they thought they knew.”
