Hasbro Entertainment Opens Unscripted TV Division

Hasbro Entertainment has opened an unscripted television division, helmed by newly hired Sony Pictures Television—Nonfiction alum Zach Edwin.

The new division already has several projects underway, including game-show adaptations of Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble and TV formats based on Monopoly, Nerf and Clue.

Trivial Pursuit, hosted by LeVar Burton, and Scrabble, hosted by Raven-Symoné, were developed with Lionsgate and both premiere today on The CW.

TV versions of Monopoly, Nerf and Clue are being developed in partnership with Sony Pictures Television—Nonfiction.

Edwin will oversee the expansion of the company’s unscripted slate and its partnerships with other studios, distributors and talent.

Previously, Edwin served as manager of development at the Intellectual Property Corporation, part of Sony Pictures Television—Nonfiction, and as director of development at Sony Pictures Entertainment. In those roles, he helped the development of series such as Selena + Chef, Indian Matchmaking, Pokemon: Trainer Tour and much more.

“Hasbro Entertainment is committed to working with the best in the business to bring our beloved and iconic brands to life,” said Gabriel Marano, head of TV at Hasbro Entertainment, to whom Edwin now reports. “Zach is an excellent fit to help us build an unscripted division befitting of Hasbro’s iconic history and portfolio. He brings a wealth of experience shepherding major unscripted projects to the screen for top partners. With multiple major projects coming soon, we look forward to delighting wide audiences with shows as fun and exciting as the worlds they draw from.”

“Hasbro Entertainment is positioned to be a true leader in the unscripted space, wielding an amazing collection of historic, globally popular brands to create high-quality content for audiences worldwide,” Edwin said. “I look forward to working in collaboration with Gabe and the rest of the Hasbro Entertainment team, as well as top-tier partners like Lionsgate and my former colleagues at SPTNF, to seize the huge opportunity ahead of us.”
