The Channel 4 documentary series Geordie Hospital returns for a brand-new season on September 6.

The new season follows more of Newcastle Hospitals’ staff as they work a shift, seeing the medics that transform lives and the support teams that make it possible. The staff cast includes porters, surgeons, housekeepers, midwives, nurses and more.

Featured stories include heart surgeon Asif performing valve replacement surgery on 13-year-old Seb; 3-month-old Amelia receiving help for her cleft lip and palate; neurosurgeon Claire operating on Jen, who has spina bifida; and hospital chaplain Katie training up the new staff welfare dog.

Rita Daniels, Channel 4’s commissioning editor, said: “We are very proud that Geordie Hospital is returning to Channel 4 for a second installment. The successful first series was in the top five new 8 p.m. weekday series in 2022. Curve Wales has once again produced an uplifting series that shows the incredible and inspiring work of the hospital staff and their enthusiasm, passion and dedication in providing care to their patients.”

Camilla Lewis and Rob Carey, CEOs of Curve Media, commented: “We are delighted to be back with the brilliant and kind-hearted team at Newcastle Hospitals. A joy to watch them as they help people, save lives and keep the hospital going. Such an incredible and sometimes funny team, a pleasure to work with them.”

Dame Jackie Daniel, chief executive of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the cameras back to Newcastle Hospitals last year to film series two of Geordie Hospital. It’s a pleasure to see our extremely valued and hardworking clinical and support staff—and for the first time, our midwives—as they provide the very best care for our patients. I hope it provides a glimpse into the care and compassion that the team provides every day. I’m very grateful to all of our staff and patients who gave their time to help make this program. We really hope you all enjoy it.”
