FilmBuff to Distribute Maggie Gyllenhaal-Narrated Docuseries Globally

NEW YORK: FilmBuff has secured rights to handle international sales for the investigative docuseries Truth and Power, narrated by Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Honourable Woman, The Dark Knight).

The series, which is executive produced by Brian Knappenberger (The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz) for Luminant Media, will premiere in the U.S. on Participant Media’s Pivot network on January 22 at 10 p.m. Truth and Power investigates what happens when private institutions and governments abuse their power and break the public trust, with each half-hour episode telling the stories of regular people who go to extraordinary lengths to expose corporate exploitation and infringement on civil liberties as a result of the government overstepping its bounds.

“We’re huge fans of Brian’s, having worked with both him and Participant on his earlier films The Internet’s Own Boy and We Are Legion,” said Janet Brown, the CEO of FilmBuff. “The issues he tackles in Truth and Power are of global importance, and we couldn’t be prouder to bring this series to the global audience that it deserves.”

Jeff Skoll and Belisa Balaban serve as executive producers for Pivot.
