Discovery Alum Joins CuriosityStream

Bill Goodwyn, a 30-year veteran of Discovery, Inc., has been appointed to the newly created role of chief revenue officer and executive VP of strategy, business development and partnerships at CuriosityStream.

Goodwyn will oversee the revenue-generating strategy and execution worldwide. His oversight covers global distribution, including sales, marketing and partner channel teams, as well as sponsorship, advertising and business development.

Previously, at Discovery, Goodwyn served in numerous executive leadership roles in digital media, TV and digital education. He currently holds the post of vice-chairman of Discovery Education and was formerly president and CEO, where he built the digital ed-tech platform reaching over 4 million educators and 50 million students and transformed the company into a global leader in digital education.

CuriosityStream President and CEO Clint Stinchcomb, to whom Goodwyn will report, said: “Imagine if Bill’s fellow Tarheel Michael Jordan returned to the NBA with no erosion in his physical skills. That is the comparative level of impact Bill can make on our global business lines. The CuriosityStream team was strong and today it got infinitely stronger.  Bill is a consummate dealmaker whose relationships around the world and track record building high-performance teams and businesses lends CuriosityStream a tremendous competitive advantage in the dynamic and evolving media landscape. Our success depends on our ability to rapidly expand our businesses in multiple directions all over the world and I am thrilled that Bill has agreed to lead the charge.”
