Delphine: The Secret Princess Sells into Europe & Australia

Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) has concluded sales for the documentary series Delphine: The Secret Princess with HBO Max in Europe and SBS in Australia.

Produced by WBITVP Belgium, the three-parter will become available on HBO Max in Europe from May 1 on its service in CEE, Iberia, the Nordics and the Netherlands. It will be available from April 23 on SBS in Australia. Delphine: The Secret Princess was originally simulcast on RTVLTV1 and Eén in Belgium in January.

In the docuseries, Princess Delphine of Saxe-Cobourg tells her own life story. After being hidden for 31 years, denied for 14 years and fighting a seven-year legal battle, Delphine Boël finally won recognition at the age of 52. In October 2020, Boël, an artist, became Her Royal Highness Delphine de Saxe-Cobourg, Princess of Belgium, daughter of King Albert II.

Princess Delphine of Saxe-Cobourg said: “My story touches on universal issues around the basic human needs of love, identity and acceptance. These are things that people all over the world can relate to, and I hope that by sharing my story, I can help others who are going through similar emotions and experiences. I am delighted that the show now will be available in so many countries across Europe, as well as in Australia.”

Andrew Zein, senior VP of creative, format development and sales at WBITVP, said: “This is an extraordinary and emotional story, one that is full of sadness and lies, but also focuses on getting back up again, ending in a happy and positive way. It is great that we’ve agreed to deals to showcase this story internationally so that even more people around the world can immerse themselves in a compelling and fascinating documentary. The deals with HBO Max in Europe and with SBS in Australia give us fantastic platforms to do this.”
