BBC Studios has been commissioned by Channel 4 for The Great Home Transformation, presented by Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw.

In the six-part series, Willis and Grimshaw set about transforming family homes across the U.K. in just three days with the help of a specially equipped truck. The show is made in partnership with IKEA.

The Great Home Transformation gives families homes that function well for them instead of working against them, delivered to their doorstep by a revolutionary truck. Inside the truck is an immersive mobile mood board through which the families will experience a bespoke vision for a cleverly designed and stylish new home, with zero structural changes required, based simply on their activities and needs.

Across the series, Willis and Grimshaw will also showcase innovative and sustainable design solutions for all kinds of families, homeowners and renters.

The Great Home Transformation will air this spring on Channel 4. BBC Studios is distributing the format internationally.

Clemency Green, senior commissioning editor for features and daytime at Channel 4, said: “The Great Home Transformation will take interiors intelligence to the next level, as six families get an amazing chance to turn their homes into incredible spaces which not only look beautiful but really meet their individual needs. I’m delighted that the dream team of Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw are joining us for the ride.”

Clotilde Passalacqua, head of interior design at IKEA in the U.K. and Ireland, added: “At IKEA, we truly believe that the key to a better everyday life starts at home, and that’s never been more true than it has over the last two years. The more time we’ve spent at home, the more we appreciate its connection to our well-being. That’s why we have proudly partnered with BBC Studios on The Great Home Transformation. To see the team’s visions come to life, the happiness it brought and the impact it had on their lives reflects everything IKEA stands for. We hope it inspires others to do similarly.”

Adeline Ramage Rooney, creative director at BBC Studios Factual Entertainment, commented: “We’re thrilled to be producing such a refreshing and innovative new home transformation format for Channel 4 with support from IKEA. This is the latest factual-entertainment show to come out of BBC Studios Glasgow hub, and it also extends our successful run of content made in the ad-funded production space.”
