Channel 4 Orders More Second-Hand Showdown

Channel 4 has partnered with Vinted again for a second season of the cross-platform series Second-Hand Showdown.

With Vicky Pattison (Geordie Shore, Ex on the Beach) hosting, the upcoming season will see a new set of guests try on looks created by stylists Sabrina Grant and Joey Bevan using only secondhand fashion. The guests then choose which stylist’s collection they’d like to keep and which will be relisted on Vinted.

Second-Hand Showdown is produced by Stellify Media, owned by Sony Pictures Television. The first season had over 6 million views across Channel 4’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and video-on-demand streaming platforms. It marked Vinted’s first cross-platform U.K. partnership.

Season two is set to debut on YouTube and E4 on August 12, with new episodes dropping until September 16. This first debut will be 6×12-minutes. A 6×25-minute version will come later on E4 and stream on Channel 4. Shorter edits of each episode will also be released across Channel 4 and E4’s social accounts.

“I am a big fan of pre-loved fashion and the way it allows me to express my personality through outfits, so this series was right up my street,” Pattison said. “I’ve had a brilliant time working with Sabrina and Joey and all the team behind the scenes to prove that anyone can unleash their unique style through thoughtfully selected secondhand clothes.”

“It’s been brilliant teaming up with Vinted on this new branded entertainment series across E4 and Channel 4 YouTube—pre-loved fashion is a growing part of our lives and it’s here to stay,” said Mel Bezalel, commissioning editor at E4, and Laura Marks, digital commissioning editor at Channel 4. “The refreshed format ignites friendly fire between our competing stylists, the stories are fantastically varied and emotionally-charged, and with Vicky Pattison hosting, this show has been a seamless, creative collaboration we’re all very proud of.”

Linas Paulikas, reach media director at Vinted, commented “The evolution of Second-Hand Showdown has been fantastic, as we celebrate not only secondhand fashion but also the people who engage with secondhand fashion. Last year’s series came at a time when conscious consumption was at an all-time high, and we’re thrilled to see content that inspires viewers to use Vinted and unleash the potential of their wardrobes. This year, we have extended that messaging, showing how the platform can not only extend an item’s life cycle but also rejuvenate someone’s authentic and unique style at a fraction of the cost, transforming how people buy and sell clothes.”

Tracie O’Neill, executive producer at Stellify Media, added, “We’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to scale up the format from series one for E4. With Vicky’s humor and warmth, Joey and Sabrina’s authentic passion for pre-loved fashion and a stellar cast of contributors from all around the U.K., we’re confident the E4 and Channel 4 YouTube audiences will enjoy it too!”
