Bull Run Crypto Doc in the Works

The Immigrant, a Los Angeles-based studio backed by Fremantle, and Cosabona Films have teamed up for the cryptocurrency comedy-documentary Bull Run.

In Bull Run, director Ana Ramon Rubio becomes the subject of her own work, delving into the world of cryptocurrencies to analyze whether or not this new technology can revolutionize the financial system forever. In addition to introducing the crypto ecosystem to the viewer, it also talks about market cycles, speculation through meme-coins and sociological implications.

Rubio said: “It was a bit like Alice going down the burrow. When the quarantine was decreed, I was going through a challenging life stage. I started investing in cryptocurrencies because I was curious and because other friends were doing it. I discovered the incredible universe that was being created around the crypto ecosystem and became obsessed with it.”

Silvana Aguirre and Camila Jiménez, co-founders of The Immigrant, said: “Bull Run uncovers crypto from a very personal and comedic perspective. Comedy is a genre with which much of the crypto ecosystem is identified, where memes, social networks and the most speculative investments prevail. Ana’s experience unlocks a complex universe in a funny and relatable way; she takes us on a journey that is personal, first and foremost, and that also sheds light into an unprecedented financial revolution.”

Film producer Juanjo Moscardó Rius said: “The tokenization of the film was necessary both from a narrative standpoint and to shorten the traditional production times of cinema in Spain, where getting financing for a film can take years. Tokenization allows users to actively participate in the decisions and success of a film, and it has the potential to revolutionize the film industry.”

Javier Celorrio, Carlos Celorrio and Miguel Caballero, responsible for the tokenization of the documentary, added: “To simplify a complex process, we could say that the users who have invested in it acquire tokens that, through smart contracts, entitle them to receive part of the profits from the film. In this way, Bull Run belongs to those people; they feel part of it.”
