Blue Ant Media has unveiled a series of greenlights for its suite of lifestyle and factual TV channels that includes Cottage Life, T+E, Love Nature and Smithsonian Channel Canada.

“We’re committed to growing Blue Ant’s television platforms with new, original series from some of the best producers in Canada,” said Jamie Schouela, president of global channels and media at Blue Ant Media. “As part of our new slate of greenlights, we’re proud to be partnering with APTN to share compelling stories from Indigenous Canadians with audiences across the country.”

On Cottage Life, Blue Ant Media has greenlit three new series to premiere in spring 2022, two of which are co-productions with APTN. Dr. Savannah: Wild Rose Vet profiles rural Alberta-based veterinarian Dr. Savannah Howse-Smith as she takes care of animals while also exploring her newly-discovered Métis heritage. Blue Ant and APTN will also co-produce the third installment of Merchants of the Wild. Further, Blue Ant Media acquired from APTN seasons one and two of the Merchants of the Wild franchise to air on Cottage Life for which the company has greenlit Mysteries from Above (working title), a ten-part docuseries investigating mysterious phenomena from the vantage point of drones.

T+E has lined up two paranormal titles: Bathsheba, which follows the true story of witch Bathsheba Sherman who was made famous by the feature film The Conjuring; and Eyewitness: UFO (working title), an eight-part docuseries discussing whether or not extraterrestrials have visited Earth.

New on Love Nature is a 12-part docuseries Battle of the Alphas, giving viewers insight into the competitive world of animal life and an inside look into an important part of animal behavior.

And on Smithsonian Channel Canada will be the documentary special Treasures from the Maya, which heads into the jungle to investigate the mysterious collapse of the ancient Maya civilization.
