Blue Ant Media Inks Sales in AsiaPac

Blue Ant Media has closed a raft of multi-genre sales to broadcasters in the Asia Pacific, totaling more than 550 hours of programming.

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) picked up Fresh Off the Boat star Hudson Yang’s Order Up! for Asian Food Network in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The series follows Yang on a journey from Singapore to America as he embarks on a chef apprenticeship crash course.

WBD also licensed over 30 hours of programming concentrated on natural history content for Animal Planet, including Chasing the Rains, Africa’s Wild Year, New Kids in the Wild and Big Cat Country.

Bollywed went to the Discovery Asia channel in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The title follows the Singh family, who have been operating an iconic bridal shop in Toronto’s Little India for the past 37 years.

The Korean Broadcasting System has opted for a number of natural history titles including Woodpeckers: The Hole Story, Great Elephant Tale and Baboons: Rules of the Troop, a film that depicts the adaptations baboons have made to survive under a myriad of harsh conditions.

TrueVisions in Thailand has picked up factual entertainment and history series including Ice Vikings, Deep Water Salvage and Searching for Secrets, while PCCW Media in Hong Kong will air two seasons of All-Round Champion.

Singapore’s Mediacorp picked up Uptown Otters, which follows distinct clans of smooth-coated otters that have staked their territories in a unique urban setting in Singapore; World’s Deadliest Weather, showcasing archival and user-generated footage of extraordinary weather; as well as Order Up!

In Australia, SBS also snagged Order Up!, along with three seasons of Flat Out Food and travel adventure series Scotland’s Scenic Railways and Britain’s Most Luxurious Train Journeys. The Foxtel Group picked up more than 75 hours of programming, including Born to Be King and World’s Deadliest Weather. Nine Network Australia licensed seasons six through nine of See No Evil.

In New Zealand, TVNZ is set to air Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies, seasons one and two of Deep Water Salvage and three seasons of Gone Fishing. Whakaata Māori, New Zealand’s national Indigenous broadcaster, licensed Into the Blue: The Wonders of the Coral Triangle, Merchants of the Wild, Anyone’s Game and Cracking the Code.
