The unscripted production specialist Big Little Fish TV (BLFTV) has named Georgina Surtees to the role of COO.

Surtees will manage all of BLFTV’s production and business concerns and additionally act as the company’s head of production. She brings with her over 20 years of industry experience, having built the foundations of her career at producers such as Darlow Smithson and Shine, working as a production manager at Endemol, Ricochet and Bullseye, and serving a nine-year stint at Discovery Networks.

Surtees will work closely with BLFTV co-founders Mark Procter and Steve Jones, the former Discovery Networks executives who launched BLFTV to produce quality, returnable factual programming for the U.K. and international markets.

Surtees said: “Mark and Steve’s infectious ambition for Big Little Fish instantly made me want to be a part of their growth story and I’m delighted to be joining the leadership team. What they’ve achieved independently already is impressive and collectively we now have rapid expansion plans to supersize the business with some truly exciting projects and initiatives.”

Procter and Jones added: “Like all producers, we’ve faced multiple challenges over the last 16 months and we are incredibly thankful to the commissioners and channels that have supported us with our first productions. Securing one of the industry’s most respected production executives is a massive coup for us and with Georgina’s wealth of experience we are now looking forward to building our business together.”
