BBC Studios has hired Georgia Moseley and Katharine Patrick to work together to lead its new-look documentary unit.

Moseley, currently the creative director of BBC Studios’ factual podcast unit, will serve as head of the documentary unit. Patrick joins from Wonderhood Studios, where she was head of factual, and will serve as senior creative director.

Together, Moseley and Patrick will be responsible for delivering transformational business growth and a broad creative slate. They will work closely with existing editorial leads and creative directors Kirsty Cunningham and Joe Mather.

Moseley has extensive experience in documentaries across television, podcast and digital, with credits for Stay Free: The Story of the Clash (Spotify), I Am Not Nicholas (Audible), Believe in Magic (BBC), Vishal (BBC) and History’s Secret Heroes (BBC).

Patrick is a BAFTA- and Grierson-nominated executive producer and former head of development for multiple companies, including Minnow and Nutopia. She has a track record for securing and delivering programs with complex access to British institutions such as the British Royal Family, the Ministry of Defence, the NHS and the police. At Wonderhood, she executive produced Baby Surgeons (Channel 4) and Evacuation.

“In Georgia and Katharine, we have found a partnership of two outstanding creative leaders, defined by their passion for documentary in all its forms and fueled by a shared desire to deliver an ambitious, impactful and contemporary Documentary Unit for BBC Studios,” said Kate Ward, managing director of factual productions at BBC Studios. “Along with Kirsty and Joe, they form a powerhouse creative team, and we could not be more thrilled to have them all with us at BBC Studios.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to lead the Documentary Unit as it enters a brilliant new chapter,” Moseley commented. “The chance to help build on the Unit’s incredible history and track record is a huge honor—and there is no one better to do this with than Katharine Patrick. I can’t wait to get to work and alongside Katharine, Kirsty, Joe and the stellar team, building a slate of standout new documentaries together.”

Patrick added, “I am absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the incredibly dynamic Georgia in leading a fresh and exciting new era at the Documentary Unit at BBC Studios. I feel extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to originate and push boundaries through innovative storytelling with the immensely talented Joe, Kirsty and existing team and can’t wait to get started. I leave Wonderhood with deep fondness and huge appreciation of what we have achieved together and look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in the factual television landscape.“
