BBC Picks Up Berlin 1945

The BBC has inked a deal with German distributor Autentic Distribution for the factual series Berlin 1945.

Berlin 1945, which made its world premiere at the Berlin Filmfest this year, consists of 3×50-minute episodes. It travels through time with unique archival footage into the city’s most fateful year, telling the story through the eyes of the German population and Allied soldiers who experienced it.

Berlin 1945 is produced by zero one film in co-production with bauderfilm and Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), in cooperation with Arte, and funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Autentic Distribution is in charge of the worldwide distribution of the docuseries and has already sold the series throughout Germany, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and China.

Mirjam Strasser, Autentic Distribution’s head of sales and acquisitions, said: “The archive material in this series is combined with personal accounts of people, German and Allied, living in the year 1945; these personal stories emotionalize the program and turn it into a touching and really outstanding piece of TV History which the audience won’t forget. We are very proud that UK viewers now can join us on this emotional journey through the memorable year 1945.”
