A+E Networks’ Biography Presents: History, Herstory Celebrates Women

A+E Networks has debuted Biography Presents: History, Herstory, a short-form series recognizing Women’s History Month, through a partnership between HISTORY and Lifetime.

Presented by a range of influential figures, including Julianna Margulies, Kristin Davis, Laverne Cox and Bernice King, the series showcases the powerful stories of prominent women throughout history. These include Harriet Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt, Billie Jean King, Malala Yousafzai, Julia Child, Sojourner Truth, Coretta Scott King, Jane Goodall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Maya Angelou and Joan of Arc, among others. Biography Presents: History, Herstory will air throughout the month of March in prime-time slots across HISTORY, Lifetime and A&E.

“Ask a man in the street—in fact ask a woman—to name five women from history and they struggle,” said Tiffanie Darke, editor-in-chief of HISTORY, Biography and A&E. “While we can reel off the names of generals, presidents, male inventors and adventurers, we struggle to name their female counterparts. The stories of those women are out there, but their profile is limited. The desire to find out more about women’s agency in the world and its history is here. HISTORY and Lifetime are proud to play their part in that.”

“These really are extraordinary times, when the incredible, ceiling-shattering stories of women who just wouldn’t take no for an answer are the stories that people want to hear,” said Lea Goldman, editor-in-chief of Lifetime. “It’s time to make household names of women who’ve been relegated to the footnotes. Lifetime and HISTORY are proud to propel that initiative.”
