A&E Greenlights Four New Unscripted Originals

A&E Network is adding four new originals to its nonfiction lineup following the success of Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, Born This Way, Intervention, Biography and Live PD.

Many Side of Jane is about a single mother of two who is dealing with Dissociative Identity Disorder while she studies for a biology degree. The tentatively titled 6×60-minute program is produced by Renegade 83.

Lost for Life (working title) centers on the Supreme Court ruling that is giving a second chance to criminals who were sentenced to life in prison when they were juveniles. The 8×60-minute show is being made by IPC Television.

The Accused (working title) tells the stories of people who were being pegged for crimes that they believe they did not commit. The 8×60-minute series is produced by Brinkworth Films.

The tentatively titled Employable Me centers on the challenges faced by job seekers with disabilities. The 8×60-minute program is being made by Optomen Productions.

“A&E has been leading the reality revolution, doubling down on our slate of brave nonfiction storytelling, moving away from scripted drama and refocusing our programming and development on what we do best,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, the channel’s executive VP and head of programming. “A&E continues to invest in provocative, high-quality content that sparks meaningful conversation and resonates with our loyal audience. Not many networks can proudly say that they currently have four Emmy Award-winning series on their schedule.”
