BURBANK: Actress Zelda Williams (Dead of Summer) has come on board Freeform’s unscripted series The Letter, slated to premiere later this year.

Williams will be the voice behind The Letter, an hour-long relationship show that sees friends challenge each other to be better through anonymous letters written to each other. Williams, who currently stars on Freeform’s original drama series Dead of Summer, will also serve as executive producer on the upcoming series.

The Letter poses the question: If you could anonymously tell your best friend in a letter the things that he or she really needed to hear, would you do it? Each stand-alone episode sees four friends draw names and anonymously write a letter to the person whose name is selected. The letter outlines the individual’s opinion of what the friend should change to better him or herself. For one week, each participant must follow the rules and instructions detailed in the letter, leading to a dramatic and emotionally charged meeting between the author of the letter and the friend who received it.

The series is produced by Sirens Media, part of Leftfield Entertainment, an ITV America company. Executive producers for Sirens Media are Rebecca Toth Diefenbach, Valerie Haselton, Jack Mori, Arthur Borman and Lucilla D’Agostino, with Brent Montgomery.
