Banijay Group’s IWC has been commissioned to produce another 6×60-minute season of Britain’s Most Historic Towns for Channel 4 in the U.K.

Britain’s Most Historic Towns, hosted by Professor Alice Roberts, explores key periods in the U.K.’s history. The second installment of the docuseries will look at the Plantagenet, Stuart, Edwardian, Georgian, Civil War and World War periods by visiting historic sites around the country. The freshman season was a ratings success when it aired earlier this year.

Banijay Rights is handling the international distribution of Britain’s Most Historic Towns‘ format and finished programs.

Shaminder Nahal, Channel 4’s commissioning editor, remarked: “I loved the way series one of Britain’s Most Historic Towns brought the past alive with warmth, wit and masses of detail, and I’m looking forward to what Alice Roberts and the team find in six more fascinating places in Britain.”

Dominic Bowles, executive producer at IWC, added: “The whole team is delighted to be working with Shaminder and Channel 4 on a second series. We’re lucky enough to live in a country with a varied and fascinating history, which means we’ve had no problems in finding fantastic towns with amazing stories that help us celebrate that history.”
