108 Media to Distribute Cold Love & More Worldwide

TORONTO: 108 Media has secured global rights for several documentaries, including Cold Love and Exodus, which it will represent under the 108 Believe banner.

Cold Love is a 2015 film from Deia Schlosberg about the beauty and life-giving forces of the Earth’s frozen places. It follows Arctic explorer Lonnie Dupre, who traveled more than 15,000 miles by dogsled, skis and kayak throughout the High Arctic and Polar regions for the past three decades. The film will be represented under the 108 Believe label, a specialty distribution arm launched last year and dedicated to inspiring real-life stories.

Another title that will be represented under the 108 Believe banner is Exodus. Directed by Elias Matar, the 72-minute title documents the journey of Syrian refugees as they cross the Aegean Sea from Turkey into Greece. 108 Media also acquired the documentary Footprint, directed by Valentina Canavesio. It explores what an overpopulated future might look like, examining possible issues such as population explosions, over-consumption and limited resources. 108 Believe holds all global rights to Footprint, excluding in North America.

Also new to the company’s slate is The Great Sasuke, written by and starring Mikiko Saski. The title chronicles a life-changing year in the career of a regional Japanese wrestler and local politician known as The Great Sasuke.

108 Media will represent all of the newly acquired titles at this year’s International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). The company’s slate at IDFA also includes the docuseries Passionate TV and T-Rex, about Olympian Claressa Shields and her dreams of being the first woman in history to win a gold medal in Olympic boxing.

Abhi Rastogi, CEO of 108 Media, said, “IDFA is the world’s leading festival for showcasing the very best in international documentaries and we’re delighted to showcase our newest acquisitions at this event. We’ve always had a passion for thought-provoking documentaries and these titles offer a global perspective on some truly moving and astonishing life stories, which will capture the attention of buyers and film fans alike. We’re looking forward to a successful IDFA and adding even more incredible content to our slate for 2017.”
