VANCOUVER: Corus Entertainment’s YTV has slated the season two premiere of the animated series Nerds and Monsters, distributed by 9 Story Media Group, for this weekend.

Produced by Slap Happy Cartoons, the sophomore season will debut this Saturday, January 9, at 10 a.m. Starting January 16, Nerds and Monsters will return to its regular Saturday time slot, at 8 a.m. The 40×11-minute series for kids aged 6 to 11 follows a group of nerdy tween castaways who find themselves stranded on an uncharted island inhabited by hideous but hilarious monsters. The kids must use their brains to outsmart the dim-witted creatures.

“We’re excited to present the second season of Nerds and Monsters,” said Greg Sullivan, co-creator and partner at Slap Happy Cartoons. “Both the nerds and monsters end up in crazy and ridiculous situations this season, and we can’t wait for kids to tune into the madness.”

“This season of Nerds and Monsters is full of weird and wonderful surprises,” said Jamie Piekarz, the director of content at Corus Kids. “So keep your eyes open, starting with Saturday’s premiere on YTV’s The Zone Weekend.”

Nerds and Monsters is produced with the financial participation of the Shaw Rocket Fund.
