Tom and Jerry Celebrates 85th Anniversary

Warner Bros. Discovery has a year-long global celebration planned to mark 85 years of the animated cartoon series Tom and Jerry.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s WB Shop is launching a new Tom and Jerry 85th anniversary collection. Featuring apparel and homewares, the collection becomes available on February 24.

Networks across the globe, including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito and Max, are providing fans with several options to tune into some of their favorite Tom and Jerry episodes and films.

In the U.S., Cartoon Network hosted a Tom and Jerry marathon on February 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to kick off the Anniversary. On Boomerang, the show airs for multiple hours every day of the week.

In the U.K., Boomerang channel is celebrating Tom and Jerry all month long with a “We love Tom and Jerry” takeover, taking place now to March 2. This includes back-to-back programming blocks every day featuring Tom and Jerry in New York and The Tom and Jerry Show and weekday showcases of themed “best of” Tom and Jerry blocks at 8 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. From February 17 to 23, there will be daily airings of Tom and Jerry movies at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. From February 1 to March 31, Sky and Virgin customers can also access Enhanced Boxsets On Demand, featuring The Tom and Jerry Show and Tom and Jerry in New York. Now TV customers will able to access Tom and Jerry themed character rails and Themed Boxsets in the platforms’ Kids Experience, such as Best of Tom, Best of Jerry, Best Chases, Best Pranks, Best Travels and Best Detectives.

In LatAm, from February 10 to 16, Cartoon Network will feature a one-hour block showcasing Tom and Jerry in New York episodes and Tom and Jerry Shorts. On February 16, viewers can watch the film Tom and Jerry.

In Southeast Asia, a Mischief Masters block will feature Tom and Jerry movies every Saturday and Sunday, with Cartoonito delivering even more Tom and Jerry series. Cartoon Network in Japan will celebrate with Tom and Jerry films on February 11 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and February 23 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. A marathon of the Tom and Jerry in New York series can be seen on February 16 from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tom and Jerry Gokko, including all-new episodes, will be shown 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. In Korea, a Cartoon Network Popcorn block dedicated to Tom and Jerry Movies collection will be running on March weekends at 10 p.m. Fans in China can access a series of animated works on mainstream domestic video platforms such as iQiyi, Bilibili, Tencent Video and Youku Video.

On Max, Tom and Jerry’s 85th anniversary will be celebrated across the platform all year long for subscribers in the U.S. to stream their favorite duo. Available now to March 3, across European countries where Max is available (Andorra, Adria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Slovakia and Sweden), customers will be able to access themed rails featuring Tom and Jerry series and movies such as Tom and Jerry Show, Tom and Jerry The Movie and Tom and Jerry Blast off To Mars. Max subscribers in Southeast Asia in countries where available (Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan and Hong Kong) now through the end of the year will find themed rails and new Tom and Jerry art across the platform.

A full digital takeover is live across social and digital platforms, including a TikTok filter on the Tom and Jerry channel that allows users to transform into a character from classic Tom and Jerry shape-shifting scenes. Warner Bros. Classics YouTube channel is hosting a month-long livestream event, showcasing a curated lineup of beloved classics, highlighting iconic moments and chases. Tom and Jerry fans in EMEA have offerings on the Boomerang, Cartoon Network and Cartoonito YouTube channels, where Tom and Jerry Livestreams will be running from February 10, featuring long-form compilations, full episodes from the Tom and Jerry Singapore series and clips Tom and Jerry Show and Tom and Jerry in New York.
