NEW YORK: Sesame Workshop has appointed Thaole Entertainment as the company's master licensee for content distribution in the Southeast Asian territories of Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Under the agreement, Thaole holds the rights to place Sesame Workshop content on free terrestrial television, pay TV and SVOD. Titles include Sesame Street, The Furchester Hotel, Super Healthy Monsters, Elmo the Musical and Cookie's Crumby Pictures. Thaole will collaborate with Click Licensing Asia, Sesame Workshop's longtime licensing agent responsible for its licensing programs and retail promotions in the region.

"With a celebrated 46-year history, Sesame Workshop has become a worldwide educational force for change, helping kids grow smarter, stronger and kinder in 150 countries," said Gisela Abrams, the assistant VP of international media business for Asia Pacific at Sesame Workshop. "As we continue to strengthen our international presence, we look forward to working with Thaole to deliver Sesame programming throughout Southeast Asia, a cornerstone region for the organization."

"We have worked with Sesame Workshop in Vietnam since 2004 and have seen first hand the positive impact it has had on many children living in areas where there is limited access to quality programming," added Linh Phan, the director of Thaole Entertainment. "With a library of new content and classics, we can provide a whole new generation of children with content that is engaging, entertaining, and best of all, educational."
