Disney Channel has picked up the live-action father-daughter comedy Sydney to the Max for a sophomore run ahead of season one’s return.

New episodes from the series’ first season will begin airing on Tuesday, June 18, at 8:30 p.m. on Disney Channel and the DisneyNOW app. Created and executive produced by Mark Reisman (Frasier, Wings, The Exes), production on season two will commence later this summer.

Set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s, Sydney to the Max stars 13-year-old Ruth Righi as middle schooler Sydney Reynolds, who lives with her single dad, Max, played by Suits’ Ian Reed Kesler, and grandmother, Judy, portrayed by Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Phineas and Ferb). Max’s flashbacks to his childhood help him gain perspective on his daughter’s teenage years.

“Mark Reisman and his team of talented writers, along with the top-notch cast, delivered a show that has quickly become an audience favorite for Disney Channel,” said Nancy Kanter, executive VP of content and creative at Disney Channels Worldwide. “With its playful nod to growing up in the ‘90s, the series strikes a chord with anyone who’s ever experienced their own ‘growing pains.’ We look forward to having our viewers see what’s in store for the Reynolds family next season.”
