Spotlight: Mattel

This year, Mattel has a number of new shows and specials premiering based on globally well-known franchises.

“Mattel is the owner of one of the strongest catalogs of children’s and family entertainment franchises in the world,” says Frederic Soulie, senior VP and general manager of Mattel Television.

This includes two new Masters of the Universe series. The first is Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a fan-driven anime show that will pick up the storyline from where the TV series from the ’80s left off. The second series is He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, an animated adventure series that will introduce a new audience to the franchise.

There will be new episodic content tied to the Thomas & Friends franchise. “The show will be animated in 2D and will introduce a new creative construct that’s comedic and playful,” says Soulie. Also, two new Barbie movies are set to launch this year.
