SpongeBob Among Nick’s 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards Winners

LOS ANGELES: K.C. Undercover and SpongeBob SquarePants were among the winners at Nickelodeon’s 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards, which presented prizes in 22 categories.

In the television category, The Thundermans took home the award for favorite TV show, while the prize for favorite family TV show went to The Muppets. Austin & Ally’s Ross Lynch was named favorite male TV star in a kids’ show, while K.C. Undercover’s Zendaya received the award for favorite female TV star for a kids’ show. SpongeBob SquarePants was voted favorite cartoon.

Also in the TV category, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory won for favorite male TV star on a family show, while Sofia Vergara took home the award for favorite female TV star in a family show for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family. The favorite talent competition show was The Voice, and the award for favorite cooking show went to Cake Boss.

In film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens won for favorite movie, while Will Ferrell was named favorite movie actor for his role in Daddy’s Home. Jennifer Lawrence took home the prize for favorite movie actress for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2. The favorite animated movie was Hotel Transylvania 2, and Amy Poehler won the award for favorite voice from an animated movie for Inside Out.

Winners in the music category included Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Adele and Shawn Mendes. The award for favorite collaboration went to Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth for the song “See You Again.” Other winners included the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series for favorite book and Just Dance 2016 in the video game category.

The 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards were hosted by country music superstar and coach on NBC’s The Voice, Blake Shelton. During the show, kids watching at home had the opportunity to choose what happened live by casting votes to see four different situations play out: Shelton and Jace Norman pranking DNCE with toilet paper in their dressing room; Cameron Dallas getting super-soaked in Slime; Shelton donning a unicorn outfit; and the stage environment changing to underwater. In addition to the live votes, Nick’s digital platforms offered games and exclusive real-time updates with photos and videos from the Orange Carpet and backstage.

Replays of the awards show will air on TeenNick on Tuesday, March 15, at 9 p.m., and on Nicktoons on Thursday, March 17, at 8 p.m. Nickelodeon’s 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards is currently available on Nickelodeon On Demand.
