LONDON: The free-to-air Arabic kids’ channel Spacetoon and its licensing division, ALC, have unveiled a number of new broadcast and licensing agreements.

This month, Spacetoon began airing Power Rangers Dino Charge, for which it has launched a promotional campaign in collaboration with Bandai ME and Toy Triangle. The network also picked up the TV rights for the new season of Doraemon. Alongside Animation International and TV Asahi Corporation, a long-term strategy is being developed to support the Japanese show, which made its debut this month. In April, Spacetoon will premiere Little Charmers, produced by Nelvana Enterprises, as well as ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, from PGS Entertainment.

ALC (Arabian Licensing Company) recently inked deals for Bidaya Media’s Iftah Ya Simsim, an Arabic-language version of Sesame Street. Stationery and apparel agreements have been signed for the property, which is also getting a dozen coloring books for the EMEA target markets.

ALC, which combines Dubai’s Global New Age Media and Copenhagen’s Ink Group, recently joined forces to become Ink ALC. “I am certain that the merger between Ink and ALC, supported by Spacetoon TV, will enjoy great success in licensing thanks to its access to over 1 billion consumers across three regions,” said Fayez Weiss Al Sabbagh, the president of Spacetoon Kids TV. “The company is evolving continuously, building new relationships and achieving new, fruitful deals on all sides of the media business.”
