Serious Kids has taken on the distribution rights for the Sky Kids original Halloween animated special The Ghastly Ghoul.

The half-hour special comes from London-based production company Lupus Films and Dublin-based Dream Logic Animation Studios. It follows the relationship between a monster who doesn’t believe in himself and a young girl who longs for friendship.

The Ghastly Ghoul lands on Sky Kids in the U.K. and Ireland from October 7 and later on KiKA in Germany.

“We are very excited to announce that Serious Kids will be handling the distribution for The Ghastly Ghoul,” said Ruth Fielding, co-founder Lupus Films. “We hope its beautiful animation, charming story and universal themes—combined with the timeless magic and fun of Halloween—will be a big seasonal hit with audiences around the world for many years to come.”

Dream Logic’s Brian Willis added: “We are really looking forward to working with Serious Kids and can’t wait to see the response to The Ghastly Ghoul once it airs. A massive thank you to all our funders for making this Halloween Special happen, our co-producer Lupus Films and finally, to a wonderful team who worked so hard to get this really beautiful animation made.”

Serious Kids’ Genevieve Dexter said: “Lupus Films and Dream Logic are at the top of their game with The Ghastly Ghoul, which is a really colorful CGI family holiday comedy despite the title! With production nearing completion, we have already had a lot of early interest based on the promo and we can’t wait to launch it at MIP Junior.”
