Toon Factory’s Sardine in Outer Space is slated to premiere on Teletoon+ next month.

Adapted from the comic of the same name by Joann Sfar, Emmanuel Guibert and Mathieu Sapin, the animated series follows a young lady named Sardine who lives with her friends and her uncle, Captain Yellow Shouler, aboard a spaceship. Together, they visit exotic planets and embark on missions to save the universe from Supermuscleman and his sidekick Dr. Krock. Sardine in Outer Space bows on Teletoon+ on May 4.

Co-produced with Red Frog, Caribara Productions, Scope Pictures, the series was directed by David Garcia. The series will be distributed by Mediatoon Distribution

Thierry Berthier, president of Toon Factory and artistic director on Sardine in Outer Space, is currently developing three new projects—How to Shrink, Moods and The Music Traveler.

Berthier said: “Being a producer doesn’t get better than this when you can bring so much formidable talent into an animated series based on a no less formidable heroine! With the essential support of Teletoon+ we wanted to produce a program that was both funny and clever—like the original comic. I feel that we have succeeded and hope that kids and their parents will embrace Sardine on screen as they have already welcomed her into their families, revelling her adventures in print.”
