Animation industry veteran Rob Davies has joined the Slap Happy Cartoons ownership team as a partner.

Davies has over three decades of animation experience. He won an Emmy for directing on Pinky and the Brain, and his creator, developer and producer credits include Atomic Betty, Captain Flamingo and Pirate Express. He was also a co-founder of Atomic Cartoons.

Slap Happy Cartoons co-founder Vito Viscomi is departing the company to pursue other life interests. Davies will be a partner alongside studio founders Greg Sullivan, Kathy Antonsen and Josh Mepham.

“We worked with Rob in the very early days of our careers, and we’ve followed his successes over the years,” Antonsen said. “He shares our passion for producing great cartoons. We’re so excited about collaborating and building an even stronger reputation for Slap Happy in the future with Rob on our team.”

D“I’m honored to be a part of their story. Slap Happy Cartoons embodies everything you think of when you hear ‘animation studio,’” Davies said. They make great cartoons with a perfectly balanced blend of fun and professionalism. This is a tremendous opportunity for me, and hopefully they feel the same way.”

He continued, “My goal going forward is to help build on Slap Happy Cartoons’ already-solid foundation and continue to bring something special to our clients, broadcasters, production partners, employees, and fans. I’m extremely excited about this next chapter in the studio’s journey.”

“I’m absolutely thrilled Rob’s joining the fine folks at Slap Happy,” Viscomi commented. “He’s a fantastic creator and experienced producer and will be an exciting addition to an already impressive team.”
