LONDON: Nickelodeon UK and Ireland has commissioned its first original series specifically developed for digital platforms from London-based creative agency Ralph.

Titled Tinkershrimp & Dutch, the 5×5-minute comedy series is set to premiere across Nick Play and the U.K. websites for Nick and Nicktoons beginning January 15. On Nick Play, the show will run as a linear series, while on nick.co.uk and nicktoons.co.uk, the show will feature interactive elements. Behind-the-scenes videos about the series are also available online. The show follows Tinkershrimp and Dutch, a langoustine and a loris who are best friends and time-traveling bodyguards for the eccentric monarch of New Great Great Britain, King Hunnybun III. In each episode, they go back in time to foil the evil plots of their nemesis, a fun-hating, headless chicken named Michael The Fowl. Tinkershrimp & Dutch features the voice talents of John Boyega, Sam Riley, Darren Evans and Alex Lowe.

Tinkershrimp & Dutch is hilarious with brilliant characters and ingenious storytelling,” said Suzie Adams, the digital director at Nickelodeon UK and Ireland. “We want to delight and surprise our audience and are committed to providing great content across all platforms. Tinkershrimp & Dutch is an example of our investment in high-quality entertainment for the digital space.”

Gregor Stevenson, co-creator of the series, commented: “We wanted to create characters and a world where anything could happen, so [we] spent a lot of time coming up with the most insane, hyper-British situations we could think of. At the core of it, though, is basically a story about a group of friends who are trying to have a good time. Oh, and they can travel back in time to foil the schemes of Michael The Fowl, our evil headless chicken.”

Tinkershrimp & Dutch was created by Stevenson and Chris Stack. The primary character animation was executed at Mummu. Nickelodeon UK and Ireland holds all broadcast rights for the series.
