Nickelodeon Latin America has licensed season one of Genius Brands International’s flagship animated preschool series Rainbow Rangers on the heels of recent news that Nickelodeon has greenlit season two of the show.

The 52×11-minute series will debut in the region in August on Nick Jr. and will be available for streaming on the NOGGIN preschool mobile app beginning in June. The show, aimed at children in the 2-to-5 and 6-to-11 demos, will be dubbed in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Rainbow Rangers centers around seven girls who are Earth’s first responders, protecting people, animals and wildlife.

The show premiered on Nick Jr. in the U.S. in November 2018 and airs weekday afternoons and on Sunday mornings. The show boasts an accomplished creative team, which includes Rob Minkoff, director of Disney’s The Lion King; Shane Morris, co-writer of Disney’s Frozen; and New York Times bestselling author and Emmy-nominated writer Elise Allen (Dinosaur Train, Lion Guard, Barbie specials), who serves as the show’s head writer and co-creator. Disney design and animation vet Ruben Aquino (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) created key designs for the show. Emmy winner Michael Maliani directs and Andy Heyward, Genius Brands’ Emmy-winning chairman and CEO, serves as executive producer.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Nickelodeon beyond the U.S. to bring this much-loved series to children throughout Latin America for the first time,” said Heyward. “Girls and boys across the U.S. are being entertained and inspired by our characters and empowering storylines, and Latin America is a first stop to deliver the fun and excitement of Rainbow Rangers to children worldwide.”

Migdalis Silva, VP of programming and acquisitions for Nickelodeon Latin America, said: “We are excited to add Rainbow Rangers to Nick Jr. and NOGGIN’s roster of hit content. This colorful and magical series is sure to captivate our preschool audience with its engaging characters and their thrilling adventures, while creating awareness about environmental responsibility. We look forward to the success of the series on Nick’s platforms in the region.”

Zasha Robles, director of Spiral International, Genius Brands’ exclusive content distribution agent in Latin America, added: “Rainbow Rangers is a light-hearted story that will help open children’s imaginations. We have no doubt that the series is going to be a massive hit in the hands of such an experienced team at Nickelodeon Latin America.”
