Nick Sets Premiere Date for Kuu Kuu Harajuku

BURBANK: The music-themed animated series Kuu Kuu Harajuku, co-created and executive produced by singer/songwriter Gwen Stefani, is due to debut on Nickelodeon early next month.

Kuu Kuu Harajuku follows a group of girls as they form a band called HJ5. The 26-episode show will premiere exclusively on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Monday, October 3, at 4 p.m. before moving to its regular time slot of Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. A full episode is currently available on the Nickelodeon website and app.

Kuu Kuu Harajuku is co-created and produced by Australia’s Moody Street Kids, Malaysia’s Vision Animation and Stefani. It was commissioned by Network Ten. DHX Media is handling the property’s international distribution.

Stefani remarked: “Partnering with Nickelodeon on Kuu Kuu Harajuku is a dream come true! It’s been incredible to see the Harajuku Girls and the world they live in come to life. The artwork is so beautiful and the whole series turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I love that this is an animated series for young girls that celebrates creativity, imagination and individuality. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
