Nick Acting Academy & Theatre Launches in Singapore

SINGAPORE: Experiential edutainment brand KidZania Singapore is launching the Nickelodeon Acting Academy and Theatre as part of the interactive kids’ city’s official opening in Sentosa today.

The opening of KidZania Singapore marks the beginning of a collaboration with Nickelodeon that gives children the opportunity to role-play their favorite Nick characters, attend acting classes and perform for an audience in a modern theater. The Nickelodeon Acting Academy and Theatre will feature sessions led by “Zupervisors” and team leaders experienced in performing arts. Kids aged 4 and over will receive half-hour acting lessons and be cast in plays, which family and friends can attend.

From April to June, kids will have the chance to act in a play based on the series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles titled “A Foot Too Big.” From July to September, they can take part in the play “Free Samples,” inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants. After each performance, children will be paid a salary in kidZos, KidZania’s special currency. During school holidays, visitors will also be able to attend meet-and-greet sessions to take photos with Nickelodeon characters.

“We’ve been eagerly awaiting KidZania’s opening in Singapore,” said Vishal Kurien, the VP of advertising sales for Southeast Asia at Viacom International Media Networks. “Nickelodeon represents fun for kids and we have a successful history of creating promotional programs for kids’ brands to create surprising and playful entertainment experiences everywhere we go. Through the Nickelodeon Acting Academy and Theatre, we hope to help instill confidence in the young participants and fan the passion of these aspiring actors who will one day have a positive impact in the communities they live in.”

Leong Yue Weng, KidZania Singapore’s general manager, commented, “It’s a great privilege to work with Nickelodeon and offer kids the opportunity to hone their acting talents and develop stage confidence with one of the world’s best in kids’ edutainment. Realism is at the heart of what we do, and it is important that we continue to provide a realistic and diverse experience with authentic role-playing activities for children.”
