New Season & Product Line for Nick’s Shimmer and Shine

NEW YORK: Nickelodeon has given the go-ahead for a second season of its animated series Shimmer and Shine, and is also launching the first-ever product line for the show.

The sophomore season of Shimmer and Shine, which will air in June, will be comprised of 20 episodes. It sees the return of the twin genies-in-training, while new characters, including a power-hungry sorceress voiced by Lacey Chabert, will also be introduced. Additionally, Nickelodeon and Fisher-Price are launching the first-ever Shimmer and Shine product line at Toy Fair in New York. The collection includes basic and deluxe doll assortment and accessories, feature dolls such as Shimmer and Shine Wish & Spin, and Shimmer and Shine Magic Flying Carpet. Products will be available nationwide in July.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Fisher-Price on this adorable girls’ toy line that brings the magical world of Shimmer and Shine to life,” said Jennifer Caveza, the senior VP of toys at Nickelodeon Consumer Products. “Based on our newest preschool series, Shimmer and Shine toys are designed to inspire girls’ imaginations and make their genie wishes come true.”

Nickelodeon has teamed up with other partners on additional products that will be released later this year. Apparel, accessories, costumes and dress up will be created by Just Play, Party City, Spirit Halloween, Global Brands Group, Freeze, Children’s Apparel Network, Bentex, C-Life, Handcraft, High Point, FAB Starpoint, Accessory Innovations, Global Design Concepts, ACI and Berkshire. Alex Brands will release arts and crafts products, while Cardinal and University Games are on board for games and puzzles. Baby Boom, Franco, ZAK and Thermos will bring home goods items to the market, while party and stationery goods will be created by Bullseye Playground, DecoPac, Party City and MediBadge. Publishing and home entertainment products will be available from Random House Children’s Books, Bendon Inc., Studio Fun, Phoenix International and Paramount Home Entertainment.

Season one of Shimmer and Shine airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on Nickelodeon. Shimmer and Shine was created by Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz (post-production supervisor for Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go). It is produced at Nickelodeon Animation Studios.
