NBCUniversal International Networks (NBCUIN) in Southeast Asia is bringing full management of the DreamWorks channel in the region in-house.

Oversight of the channel, including affiliate sales, marketing and operations, will transition to NBCUIN from HBO Asia, which has represented the channel across the region since before NBCUniversal’s 2016 acquisition of DreamWorks Animation. The transition will begin with affiliate sales and marketing from January 1, 2018.

The DreamWorks channel launched in Asia in July 2015 and airs in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea and Indonesia. The fully dubbed HD service for kids aged 2 to 11 includes DreamWorks Junior, a dedicated block for 2-to-5-year-olds. Series featured on the channel include Trollhunters, All Hail King Julien, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Dragons: Race to the Edge, Home Adventures with Tip & Oh and more.

“Adding the DreamWorks channel to our portfolio of brands is a logical next step for our business in Southeast Asia,” commented Christine Fellowes, the managing director of NBCUIN, Southeast Asia. “Following on from NBCU’s acquisition of DreamWorks Animation, we are poised to take on full oversight of the channel and look forward to advancing our position in kids’ and family entertainment. We are grateful to HBO Asia for their dedicated support of the brand and look forward to continuing to deliver best-in-class content for DreamWorks viewers and fans across the region.”

Jonathan Spink, the CEO of HBO Asia, said, “We are very proud of the strides we have made in both launching and building the DreamWorks channel across Southeast Asia over the last three years. We wish NBCUIN continued success in building this fantastic destination where kids and families can gather and spend time with their favorite animated characters.”
