Emmanuèle Pétry, co-founder of Dandelooo, highlights the animated titles that the French producer and distributor will be presenting during MIFA/Annecy and talks about its main goals for the virtual event.

Dandelooo is taking part in the Annecy International Animation Film Festival virtual version this year, taking place from June 15 to 30, with new animated shows for the international market. The company has two official selections in the Annecy Animation Festival competition, Shooom’s Odyssey, a 26-minute TV special directed by Julien Bisaro, written by Claire Paoletti and produced by Picolo Pictures; and Hungry Bear Tales, directed by Alexandra Hetmerová and Kateřina Karhánková and produced by Bionaut.

Shooom’s Odyssey tells the story of Shooom, a baby owl that hatches just as a storm turns the bayou surrounding her tree upside down. No sooner has she fallen from her nest, then the little fledgling totters off into the mangrove, pushing a second egg from the brood along with her. Come hell or high water, she’s determined to find a mother… even if that mom turns out to be an alligator or a raccoon.

The 26×7-minute Hungry Bear Tales is an animated preschool comedy series about two bears with a sweet tooth, who don’t mind getting into trouble as long as they can obtain something good to eat.

The company is also presenting Mum is Pouring Rain, a 26-minute special by Hugo de Faucompret that was selected for a direct WIP and Q&A. “It’s the first time for a special co-produced by Laïdak Films and Dandelooo,” says Petry.

Dandelooo will also launch worldwide its completed show Stinky Dog during MIFA. The series is to launch with two episodes worldwide on the OKOOO SVOD platform during the event. The company also will show the new animated series Kosmix (26×5 minutes), featuring fun astronomy for kids, with international worldwide distribution by Dandelooo. It is directed by Martin Juza and produced by Krutart and Czech TV in the Czech Republic.

Based on the series of books by Marc Boutavant and Colas Gutman, Stinky Dog the series presents the hilarious and hectic adventures of a maverick mutt and a flattened cat.

In the animated series Kosmix, the central character is a small robot, Kosmix, that explores the universe through space travel.he story is told exclusively by the robot, narrating his adventures with his friend.

“These titles can be attractive to international buyers because they stand out visually,” Petry says. “Moreover, they should be able to make kids laugh, smile, dream, learn and understand in order to help them become who they are in the best way.”

Of Dandelooo’s overall plans for Annecy, Petry says, “We are looking for the best new homes for our new shows and [will] look out for great projects and/or programs.”
