Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! is set to feature distinct animation styles in its forthcoming four-part cosmic story arc.

In the storyline, the Guardians jump into the Black Vortex Mirror in a bid to escape the Collector’s collapsing ship only to find themselves separated and trapped in strange new worlds. The new worlds were developed using different animation techniques, including CG-stop motion, children’s book illustration, 8-bit, motion comic, Golden Age and traditional CG. Parts one and two of the arc will air on Disney XD and DisneyNOW starting at 9:30 p.m., on Sunday, May 5. The final two parts will air back-to-back on May 12.

Produced by Marvel Animation, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! stars Will Friedle (Disney’s Kim Possible) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Trevor Devall (Johnny Test) as Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) as Gamora, David Sobolov (Transformers: Prime) as Drax the Destroyer and Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show) as Groot.
