Preschool series Kiddets, from New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures, has been greenlit for a second season following its recent launch on CCTV and the VOD platform iQiyi in China.

Kiddets is set to have a 52-episode sophomore season. Further, Hengxin Shambala Kids, Pukeko Pictures’ co-production partner on the series, will be the master toy partner for the brand in the Chinese market.

Current licensing and merchandising activity in China includes two Kiddetsland theme parks. The locations opened at the end of 2018 in Guangzhou and Wuhan, and more are planned for 2019. Additionally, a Kiddets stage production premiered last December that is slated to run for more than 100 shows throughout China over the course of this year.

Kiddets, a sister series to Pukeko Pictures’ The WotWots, airs on ABC KIDS in Australia as well as on TVNZ’s TV2, HEI HEI and on-demand services in New Zealand. International distributor CAKE has signed new international deals for Kiddets, including with Discovery in the Middle East and Africa, Showmax in Africa and E-Vision in the United Arab Emirates.

Kiddets is building considerable momentum across China,” said Richard Taylor, co-owner of Pukeko Pictures. “The licensing and merchandising plan is in full swing through our Chinese partners and we expect to announce a number of major deals soon. We are also looking forward to doubling the number of available episodes and rolling out the show to new territories with our sales agent, CAKE.”
