Jellyfish Pictures has struck a development deal with Bomanbridge Media for its brand-new preschool series Ivy and the Inklings.

Bomanbridge has invested in the series’ development to aid in kickstarting the property’s international launch and will oversee the distribution rights for the Asia Pacific. Both Jellyfish and Bomanbridge will spearhead the rollout of the series, with a view to securing co-production investment and broadcast interest.

Ivy and the Inklings is the latest property to be brought to market by Jellyfish’s original content arm, Jellyfish Originals. The 52×11-minute CG-animated series, written by industry veteran Jo Clegg (Hey Duggee, Go Jetters, Lilybuds), focuses around the titular character and her doodles, or “Inklings” as she likes to call them, who are an artistic expression of how she is feeling.

With Bomanbridge overseeing all APAC distribution, Jellyfish Pictures will be handling rest of world rights and seeking commissioning broadcasters, presales and potential co-production partners for the series.

Natalie Llewellyn, head of development at Jellyfish Originals, commented, “I am truly excited to bring Ivy and the Inklings to the international market. It’s not only visually stunning and jam-packed with comedy and heart, but it highlights the importance of nurturing emotional intelligence from an early age, equipping children with valuable life tools for the future. Research shows that when a child is emotionally intelligent, they are also more resilient.”

Sonia Fleck, CEO of Bomanbridge, said, “I am enjoying every step Bomanbridge is making to expand the company’s content offering and overall partnerships. Entering into collaborative deals with companies such as Jellyfish Pictures and on such exceptional shows like Ivy and The Inklings is quite gratifying. We have very high hopes for this series and look forward to taking part in that narrative success. Emotional intelligence and the understanding of it is key to the future of our young people today who are growing up in such demanding times.”

Llewellyn added, “Sonia and the team at Bomanbridge Media are experts when it comes to identifying, distributing and commercializing premium kids’ content and we’re proud to be partnering with them. We have a shared passion for promoting the benefits of emotional learning and celebrating ‘art’ as the ‘A’ in STEAM curriculum. In truth, we could all benefit from getting a little more in touch with our emotions and Ivy will empower kids all over the world to do just that.”
