Disney Junior has ordered a third season of the Emmy-nominated series Fancy Nancy ahead of its season two premiere.

Based on Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser’s New York Times best-selling books, Fancy Nancy follows the titular 6-year-old whose imagination and enthusiasm transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. The premiere of the series’ second season is slated to air on Friday, October 4, on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.

A production of Disney Television Animation, Fancy Nancy’s voice cast includes Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) and Rob Riggle (Modern Family) as Nancy’s parents, Claire and Doug; and Broadway’s Mia Sinclair Jenness as Nancy. The series is executive produced and directed by Jamie Mitchell with Krista Tucker as series developer, co-producer and story editor. Matthew Tishler serves as songwriter and TJ Hill is composer.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products welcomed the Fancy Nancy character to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim this past spring. The character will also be featured in the “Disney Junior Holiday Party! On Tour” that is set to debut on November 1. Further extensions for the series include a number of storybook and early reader book titles from Disney Press, a DVD from Walt Disney Studios and a soundtrack from Walt Disney Records. Dolls, role-play items, accessories and apparel are also on the market.
