Doraemon Lands on the Philippines’ ABS-CBN

ABS-CBN’s Acquisitions and International Sales Distribution (ISD) in the Philippines is bringing the Doraemon franchise to the network through a recent deal.

The agreement with Animation Intl. Ltd., ShoPro and ADK Emoticons, Inc.—making Doraemon a part of ABS-CBN—will go into effect this spring. The show is set to air on ABS-CBN TV-plus channel Yey! starting in May. It follows the titular robot cat and a young boy named Nobita Nobi, whom he protects and guides throughout his adventures.

Macie F. Imperial, ABS-CBN Acquisitions and ISD head, said: “We are very happy and excited to finally say that Doraemon is a Kapamilya. It has been a long time coming and we believe this is a landmark acquisition for our kiddie viewers, and kids at heart, who have been asking when Doraemon will ever show up on ABS-CBN.”

Tim Kondo, Animation Intl. Ltd. general manager, said: “We are very excited because we didn’t have Doraemon on television for a long time and ABS-CBN is one of the best channels here so we’re really looking forward to this partnership.”
