BURBANK: Disney XD has greenlit a new live-action sci-fi adventure comedy series called MECH-X4 from Sonny with a Chance creator Steve Marmel.

Formerly known as MTX!, the new series is currently in production in Vancouver, slated for a fall premiere on Disney XD. MECH-X4 stars Nathaniel James Potvin as Ryan Walker, a freshman at Bay City High who has technopathy, the extraordinary ability to control technology with his mind. Ryan, along with his friends and brother, must try to save their town—and the world—from mass destruction.

“This serialized live-action adventure saga is a new genre for Disney XD, and we’ve assembled a dream team in a cast and crew that commands this action-packed series, masterfully blending high-end visual effects with compelling mythology to bring MECH-X4 to life,” said Adam Bonnett, the executive VP of original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide.

MECH-X4 also features Kamran Lucas, Pearce Joza and Raymond Cham. The show is executive produced by Marmel and Anupam Nigam, along with co-executive producer and director Zach Lipovsky. It is produced by Bay City Productions, a subsidiary of Omnifilm Entertainment.
