Disney XD Greenlights Season Two of MECH-X4

BURBANK: Ahead of the series premiere of MECH-X4, Disney XD has ordered a second season of the live-action sci-fi adventure series.

Production on the sophomore season will begin later this month. The first season of MECH-X4 will debut with two episodes simulcast on Disney Channel and Disney XD on November 12 at 8 p.m. Starting October 28, a preview episode will become available across several platforms, including the Disney XD app, Disney XD VOD and the Disney XD YouTube channel.

MECH-X4 follows Ryan Walker, a freshman at Bay City High who discovers he is a “technopath” with the ability to control technology with his mind. Ryan’s superpower mysteriously awakens a 150-foot robot known as MECH-X4, and he can command its every move. When a monster begins to attack his school, Ryan recruits his two best friends and his older brother to save their school, and the world, from mass destruction.

Adam Bonnett, the executive VP of original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide, said, “The creative vision for the series has been clear from the get-go. We’re excited to launch this new genre of epic action-adventure storytelling that will undoubtedly be a watercooler show for kids. This is the first live-action series for Disney XD that stars a 150-foot giant robot.”

The series was created by executive producer Steve Marmel (Sonny with a Chance). Anupam Nigam (Defiance), Brian Hamilton (Robson Arms) and Zach Lipovsky (Dead Rising: Watchtower) also serve as executive producers. MECH-X4 is produced by Bay City Productions, a subsidiary of Omnifilm Entertainment.
