Disney Channel has given a straight-to-series order to Gabby Duran & the Unsittables, a new live-action comedy that is slated for broadcast next year.

Based on the book by Elise Allen and Daryle Conners, Gabby Duran & the Unsittables stars 12-year-old newcomer Kylie Cantrall as a girl who lands a job babysitting an unruly group of young aliens. Showrunners/writers Mike Alber and Gabe Snyder (Kirby Buckets) are executive producing the single-camera show with Joe Nussbaum (Just Add Magic).

Currently in production in Vancouver, Gabby Duran & the Unsittables is being made by Omnifilm Entertainment’s Gabby Productions. Nzingha Stewart (Grey’s Anatomy) is directing the first episode.

Dina Hillier, the VP of original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide, commented: “We can’t wait to introduce Disney Channel viewers to Kylie Cantrall, who brings our courageous hero Gabby Duran to life. Following Gabby on her babysitting adventures will show kids that anyone, when given the chance, can achieve greatness. Gabe and Mike have written a truly unique character and together with Nzingha and Joe have created an exciting new universe for our audience.”
