Toronto-based Dark Slope Studios has a pair of new animation projects ready to be presented to the international marketplace: Scarygirl and Ready Set Dance.

The Scarygirl graphic novel from artist Nathan Jurevicius has been adapted into a stylized 3D world. Dark Slope used the real-time rendering of the Unreal Engine, facial capture and motion tracking to bring the series to life. A related multiplayer free-roam VR action experience, Scarygirl Mission Maybee, will launch later this year.

Ready Set Dance, a series of animated shorts for Nickelodeon Australia, made use of the modeling team at Vishus Australia and Dark Slope’s motion capture facility to bring performance artists’ dance moves to life. The program features short-form dance videos hosted by a pair of animated animal characters.

Dark Slope has also partnered with New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures on several new projects, including location-based entertainment, Magic Leap augmented reality experiences and an original television series.
