Dandelooo Cinéma Scores Presales for Born in the Jungle

Dandelooo Cinéma has scored a host of presales for Born in the Jungle prior to the film’s exclusive trailer debut at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The 70-minute animated feature has been picked up by Little KMBO in France, Luftkind Filmverleigh in Germany, Modiband/Rita & Luca Films in Spain and Folkets Bio in Sweden. The film is based on a book by Latvian author Luīze Pastore.

Born in the Jungle is based on the real adventures of explorer Aleksander Laime and his family. The film, targeted at 5- to 8-year-olds, takes place in late 1950s Venezuela, when 9-year-old Elizabeth’s summer break takes a wild turn when her little brother Leo vanishes into the jungle. She must swap her books for bravery not only to find her brother but also to rescue a mystical furry animal from captivity and bring him back up to the legendary Tepui mountain.

The film, targeted at 5- to 8-year-olds, is currently in production, with Latvia’s Atom Art, Poland’s Letko and the Czech Republic’s Hausboot.

The animated feature is directed by Edmunds Jansons, founder of Atom Art. His previous credits include Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs and Pigtail and Mr Sleeplessness, as well as Freeride in C, Guard of Honor and Choir Tour.
