Call for Entries for BAFTA Kids Young Presenter Competition

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has partnered with First News, the U.K.’s national newspaper for young people, to reopen its BAFTA Kids Young Presenter Competition for a second year.

The goal of the competition is to find a new young presenter between the ages of 7 and 14. The winner will have the once-in-a-lifetime experience of hosting BAFTA’s behind-the-scenes coverage at the British Academy Children’s Awards on November 26 at The Roundhouse in Camden, London. The winner and other shortlisted entrants will also get the opportunity to present for the First News website and at other BAFTA events throughout the year.

To enter the competition, children are asked to submit a short video of no more than two minutes that shows them interviewing an older friend or family member about their first film, games or TV memory. In the video, the young presenter should introduce the interview subject, ask them for details about the film, games or TV memory, and find out why it is so memorable. Each video should include the line “reporting for BAFTA Kids” either at the start or end of the video. The deadline for entries is September 21 and the winner will be notified on October 26. An independent jury, including some of the most well-known hosts in children’s television such as CBBC presenter Katie Thistleton and Teletubbies actress Pui Fan Lee, will select the winner.
